Introduction

Tianjin University of Technology (TUT) is located in Tianjin city, one of the four municipalities in China. Tianjin is a highly developed city with a convenient transportation system, advanced industry and commerce and an international cultural atmosphere. It is only 74 miles from Beijing, the political and cultural center of China, and has the advantage of a significantly lower cost of living than that of nearby Beijing.

As one of the key universities in Tianjin, TUT is an engineering based muti-discipline university combining science and engineering as well as balancing the development of science, engineering, humanities and management disciplines. The School of Languages and Culture at Tianjin University of Technology (TUT) is a school established especially for recruiting international students who want to study abroad in China for TUT, offering programs in intensive Chinese language study (long-term, short-term courses) .So far, international students from more than 50 countries have come to study at TUT and we have productive cooperation with universities and educational institutions in many countries.

◆ Chinese Language Training Programs

All the Chinese (Mandarin) training programs are designed to suit the requirements of each international student, with five levels of the Chinese language classes offered: beginners, elementary, intermediate, good and advanced.

In addition to the teaching of Chinese language, the school offers a number of elective classes covering various aspects of traditional Chinese culture and art, including Taiji (Shadow Boxing), Chinese Calligraphy, Traditional Chinese Painting, Seal cutting, Egg Carving, Paper-Cuts, and Performance of Ethnic Musical Instruments and Drama. Students may choose elective courses according to their individual interests.

◆ Short-term Group Study

Besides long-term Chinese language studies, The School of Languages and Culture established a long-standing cooperation with the universities and middles schools from U.S.A, Italy, Poland, Japan, Thailand and India etc. to organize short-term programs or summer camps. for providing a short-term group study. During their study, students have the chance to study Chinese language, cultural lecture and to participate in local city-tour or other long-term tours.
